XXVIII Annual Forum of Young Legal Historians

" Religion and Ethics in Legal History "
September 4, 2024 - September 7, 2024
Milan, Italy

Dear colleagues and young researchers,

The University of Milan and the University of Milan Bicocca are delighted to be the host institutions of the 28th edition of the Annual Forum of Young Legal Historians.

The conference theme is Religion and Ethics in Legal History, and it will take place over three days, from September 4 to September 7, 2024, in the city of Milan, Italy.

Young scholars who wish to present their papers and research work during the forum have until March 31 to submit an abstract to milan2024.aylh@gmail.com. Proposals should focus on one or more aspects of the theme from the perspective of ancient law or positive law in its historical development.

A glimpse of the topic: tracing back to the origins of the legal phenomenon, a profound, almost visceral, connection between religion and law is indeed evident. This relationship, which evolves differently depending on the geographical, cultural, and social context considered, is enriched by a third element, ethics. The historical analysis of the interaction between religion, ethics, and law plays an essential role in understanding the complexity of the dynamics involved in the past and present as well as in formulating future solutions to current problems. Therefore, the theme is of particular interest and constitutes an important chance for scientific discussion.

We strongly advise you to carefully read the Call for Papers document attached.

Here is some brief technical information:
